MAER-Net Colloquium 2026 (Chemnitz, Germany)

​We are pleased to announce that the 2026 MAER-Net Colloquium will be held at Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany, hosted by the research group for macroeconomics, led by Sebastian Gechert.

Chemnitz is a city in transformation, known for its industrial heritage, the iconic Karl Marx Monument and its role as a gateway to the Ore Mountains. As European Capital of Culture 2025, Chemnitz embodies the spirit of renewal and creativity, offering an inspiring environment for dialogue, discovery, and academic exchange.

Anna Dreber Almenberg

 

Anna Dreber Almenberg is the Johan Björkman Professor of Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics. Her research focuses on meta-science, with particular emphasis on replication studies, prediction markets and forecasting surveys. She is a Wallenberg Scholar, a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and an Editor at the Journal of Political Economy.

Jan C. Minx

Jan C. Minx is Head of the Evidence for Climate Solutions Working Group at PIK and a Visiting Professor of Climate Change and Public Policy at the University of Leeds. He is a leading expert in climate policy evaluation, carbon dioxide removal technologies and sustainability pathways. He has held different leadership roles at the IPCC and is an initiator of the What Works Climate Solutions Initiative.

Flight

The closest airports to Chemnitz are Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ) and Dresden Airport (DRS).

 

Berlin Airport (BER) and Prague Airport (PRG) are also easily accessible.

Train

Travel by train to Chemnitz main station (Bahnhofstr. 1). From Chemnitz main station you can easily reach the city centre in a few minutes by tram or bus.

Bus or Car

You can reach Chemnitz in just a few hours with direct long-distance bus connections from Berlin, Prague, Munich or Nuremberg with the provider FlixBus.

Chemnitz can be reached via the A4 motorway (towards Erfurt and Dresden) and  via the A72 motorway (towards Hof and Leipzig). You can use the free Park & Ride car parks of the city of Chemnitz on site
